Even though the content is unrelated, the title is similar!?

There are many other examples of using the titles of classic works as the titles of new works, such as "W's Tragedy." However, in the case of Japanese titles of foreign films, there are some that are playful parodies or obvious piggybacking. For example, "Napoleon Dynamite," which was a play on " Train Man , " etc.

The most popular example in recent years would be " Your Name. " Of course, this is different from "Your Name," the legendary radio drama that ran from 1953 to 1954 and was made into a trilogy of films (and later became an NHK morning drama). However, both dramas depict the misunderstanding between men and women, and they share the theme of unprecedented tragedy, with "Your Name" depicting World War II and "Your Name." depicting the Great East Japan Earthquake (a disaster reminiscent of it). Of course, the line "What's your name?" appears in both works, so perhaps the sound of the title has a timeless appeal to the hearts of Japanese people.

There is also an example where the creator's reference is obvious. It is " 12 Kind Japanese ." Written as a play by Mitani Koki and later made into a film, the reference is taken from " 12 Angry Men Men," a famous courtroom suspense masterpiece directed by Sidney Lumet. The film depicts the twists and turns of the jury's battle that lead to an emotional conclusion, but Mitani Koki created the play around this system of juries, which did not exist in Japan at the time. It is an entertaining work that pays homage to Lumet's work while being conscious of the contrast between "Americans = angry" and "Japanese = kind."
