A young genius director makes a film based on a real unsolved serial murder case
The Hwaseong serial murders, which actually occurred in South Korea, were a brutal crime in which as many as 10 women were victims of rape and murder in a rural area near Seoul from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s.
The case remained unsolved for a long time, and the statute of limitations expired, but finally in 2019 the perpetrator was identified as a prisoner serving a life sentence for the rape and murder of his wife's sister. This horrific serial murder case was made into a film in 2003, when the perpetrator had still not been found, and is called "Memories of Murder."
