Hard action driven by passion

Above all, what makes this film unique to John Woo is the heightened emotion that is felt by the audience as the film progresses. At the beginning, Archer cries out in pain after his beloved son is killed by Troy. Archer is upset when he transplants the face of Troy, whom he hates more than anyone else, onto himself in order to investigate. Archer's anguish when he learns that Troy is sharing a bed with Archer's wife after his face transplant. Troy, who is a villain but also a family man, is furious when Archer kills his younger brother who was an accomplice. In addition, the emotional subtleties of other characters, such as Archer's wife and Troy's mistress, are captured in great detail, and the more you watch, the more you can't control your emotions. The beautiful and fierce action is firmly supported by these human dramas.

Produced for $80 million, the film grossed three times that amount at the worldwide box office and made John Woo's name known to all corners of the world. Wu took advantage of this success and teamed up with Tom Cruise to direct the sequel to `` Mission: Impossible '' (1996), `` M:I-2 '' (2000). He also teamed up with Cage again to direct the ambitious war drama `` Windtalkers '' (2002). Even after returning to China, he continued to produce hit works such as the `` Red Cliff '' two-part series.

Four years have passed since `` Manhunt '' (2017), which was filmed on location in Japan, has ceased to be released. Wu is currently rumored to be working on a web drama series called Red Cliff. As a fan, I'd love to see that supreme slow-motion action on screen, but it looks like it's still a long way off. Why not once again enjoy ``Face/Off,'' which made the world go wild, get drunk, and cry?
