Tim Burton, the first touchstone
Our eccentric director Tim Burton made his debut as a feature film director with " Pee-wee's Big Adventure " (1985), but this film was a film version of a TV show that used existing characters originally played by Paul Reubens and gained popularity, so it's hard to say that Burton created it from scratch (although if you look closely, you can see that it is full of Burton's style in both the feel and the range of depictions).
However, there is no doubt that this was a stepping stone to his career. The success of this film gave the newcomer Burton the opportunity to move on to the next step. While searching for a new project, he came across the script for "Beetlejuice" (1988). Burton probably felt that the idea of going back and forth between this world and the afterlife, and looking at death in a bright and humorous way rather than a negative way, was very close to the ideas and feelings he had.
Although this film was not 100% based on Burton's own concept, like Edward Edward Scissorhands (1990) or The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), turning the script for Beetlejuice into a feature film required creative effort on a level he had never experienced before.

For better or worse, the "elusive" script was rewritten over and over again, and Burton and the lead actor Michael Keaton worked together to refine the bizarre role of "Beetlejuice" while incorporating a lot of ad-libs and gags. Burton was 30 years old when the film was released. This film was the first test of his original creativity, fully unleashing it on the film market.
The story unfolds in a suburban residential area surrounded by a moderate amount of greenery. Adam and Barbara, who were living comfortably in their dream home on a hill, one day fall into a river in a car accident and die. While they continue to live in their home as ghosts, they are confused when a new noisy family (they are the living) moves in and tries to remodel their house without permission. They try everything they can to get rid of them, but they just won't leave. Frustrated, they turn to Beetlejuice, who calls himself a "bio- The Exorcist," to ask him to get rid of them instead, but this triggers Beetlejuice to go on an uncontrollable rampage...
