Would you like to reassess bizarre sci-fi movies?
Summer 2024. One movie has caused a frenzy across the US. It's called " Alien: Romulus " (24). It's the sequel to the monumental sci-fi horror " Alien " (1979). It picks up all the elements from the original in 1979 to " Alien: Covenant " (2017), making fans of the series smile, while also cultivating new fans by making it a Inferno hide-and-seek horror movie where you die instantly if you're found. It has been highly praised as the ideal introductory film.
However, the fact that it has been highly praised as an introductory film also means that the barrier to entry to the Alien series has been high up until now. And the question "What is the best Alien?" is a topic that is likely to spark religious wars, just like "Where should I start watching Godzilla?" or "In what order should I watch Star Wars?" That's how diverse the direction of each work in the Alien series is, and yet each one has a strong personality.
" Alien " became a classic sci-fi horror film, directed by the "master" Ridley Scott, who has an overwhelming imagination. " Aliens " (1986), directed by the "iron man" James Cameron, who has an uncompromising attitude, said, "This time it's war!" and focused on the action direction. After a series of various troubles, "genius" David Fincher finally managed to create " Alien³ " (1992). None of them are easy to understand, and each has its own merits. Among the series, the last "Alien" of the 20th century, "Alien Resurrection" (1997), directed by the "mysterious man" Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who continues to make strange films in France, is particularly striking and unique.

I can say with certainty that, even among the entire series, including Romulus , Alien Resurrection is clearly different. Simply put, it is extremely cruel. The entire film is filled with blood, organs, pieces of flesh, and Alien mucus, and there are many scenes that are far more grotesque than those in the series. Therefore, it is true that it is difficult to recommend it to others, but there are fans (I am one of them) who love the many cruel scenes and the strange sadness and humor that are found in them.
This time, we'd like to focus on one of the most bizarre works in the series and talk about its production background and appeal.
