Godzilla vs. Kong gets a spectacular update

"Godzilla vs. Kong" (21), which showed off the clash of giants and powers on full screen, was a film that retained many of the features of " King Kong vs. Godzilla " from 1962, even in the details other than the big picture of the fight of the century between Godzilla and Kong. Having rewatched the original the night before going to the theater, I even had the impression that this film was almost a direct update of the original.

The plot of "Kong vs. Godzilla" is basically about humans siding with King Kong and trying to help him defeat Godzilla. King Kong is taken from Faro Island in the Solomon Islands to Japan by TV station employees hoping to get high ratings, but at the same time, Godzilla, who was trapped in ice in the previous film, reappears and is predicted to instinctively head for Japan. The TV station employees and the pharmaceutical company sponsoring the show initially planned to introduce Kong as a spectacle to get high ratings, but Godzilla's appearance drew attention to Kong's existence as a countermeasure, and the situation escalated into a showdown between the two giant monsters.

Meanwhile, Godzilla vs. Kong is set in a world where Godzilla has finally reigned as king after defeating his ancient enemy King Ghidorah in the previous film, Godzilla: King of the Godzilla: King of the Monsters" in this series) have been spotted all over the world, and Kong is also under the protection and care of the research institute Monarch in his homeland, Skull Island. This is because Godzilla may recognize Kong as an enemy that could usurp his throne and attack him. However, the possibility arises that Kong may be useful in the difficult exploration of the underground cavity. The huge underground cavity, which has an ecosystem completely different from that on the surface, may be the birthplace of the Titans, and if Kong can reach the cavity through his homing instinct, he may be able to lead humanity to its secrets.

Thus begins Kong and the humans' journey into the underground caverns, but at the same time, Godzilla, who had been fighting on the side of mankind against the other Titans, suddenly begins attacking cities. Has the King of the Monsters become the enemy of mankind, or can Kong be their hope?

So, the main focus of this film is on Kong, and Godzilla is depicted as a threat that is difficult to communicate with. Although we later find out that there is a reason for Godzilla's actions, Godzilla is once again reverted to being an enigmatic and terrifying presence, and can be said to be demonstrating his true potential, in contrast to Kong, who communicates with humans to some extent and acts together with them. In the first battle on the ocean, Godzilla has the advantage and Kong is overwhelmed, but for the audience who have already empathized with Kong's expressiveness, Godzilla appears once again as a terrifying presence. Kong's desperate resistance as he is cornered and the powerful clash scene were like watching a continuation of the duel in "King Kong vs. Godzilla." The original film ended with the two falling into the sea after a fight.
