There are things that can spread due to differences in images.

Q: The acting of the main cast members, including Satoshi Tsumabuki, Sakura Ando, and Masataka Kubota, is amazing. What kind of things do you say to these acting types and how do you always direct them?

Ishikawa: I consulted with Mr. Tsumabuki about the overall structure and the direction of the ending, but there was almost no discussion with the three main characters. We have them receive our ideas through the art and costumes we have prepared, and have them respond to them through a play. It was a very adult interaction.

Q: So after you handed over the script, did you appear on set as a character that you had come up with?

Ishikawa: That's right. We had a chance to talk during costume fitting, but at that point I didn't feel any difference. There is almost no doubt that he will become an actor in that class. Even if the image is a little different from here, there are things that will spread from there. It often works better if you don't dare to present it yourself.

Q: Kido, played by Tsumabuki, is responsible for leading the mystery part, but he also confronts his own identity. It must have been difficult to find that balance.

Ishikawa: Just like in `` Gugyoroku '', Tsumabuki plays the role of listening to the Kyogen story, but this time he has to really come forward at the end. I think it was a very difficult role to play, not just listening to what was being said, but also showing a certain presence while not interfering with the relationship.

There was a final scene like this, and I wanted to create a character called Kido toward that end, so I started talking about it. The two of us continued filming while trying to figure out when Kido would come forward.
