Drawing also creates a sense of self.

Q: The movie highlights the theme of "prejudice." It shows us how we usually view people and things through colored glasses.

Mao: I used to do art, so I've learned a lot of things from drawing. Basically, creating my own perception is all about drawing. Drawing is the act of looking at something and making a realistic copy of it, but what is important is not the technique but how you look at it. Determine how the "thing" looks and what differences there are, and then draw in the information. Continuing to draw in this way leads me to the point where I look at my own perceptions.

There are two things I noticed while drawing. One is that humans can only see things subjectively. There is a word called objectivity, but it is just another person's subjectivity. The other thing is that humans can only see things relatively. In other words, there is no absoluteness. What is the difference between hard and soft, bright and dark, long and short? It's definitely not there.

We say, ``Apples are red,'' but we don't know if we are actually seeing the same red. Therefore, there is a discontinuity in perception itself. That's what's interesting and important about human life. There are two families with different thoughts, and even within those families, each has a different position. In this film, I wanted to focus on the differences in perception that swirl around there. When I read the diary, I felt like all of those things were connected.

Additionally, the keyword is "window." The daughter of Family A has chemical sensitivities, so she cannot let in air from outside and has to block the windows, and this is also a window into her heart and a link to society. Furthermore, my father wrote a song called ``Mado'', which is also a great song. Including all of that, I feel like I have no choice but to do this.
