The pilot version of the unprecedented stop-motion historical drama ``HIDARI'' directed by Shinji Kawamura, who has won numerous awards both domestically and internationally and was selected as one of the ``50 Creators of the World'' by the US magazine ``Creativity'', will be screened in theaters. Hidari Jingoro is a carving craftsman from the Edo period who has many works and anecdotes left behind. The story of this legendary craftsman, whose existence is unknown, has been boldly reconstructed by combining it with historical facts from Edo. ``HIDARI'' is a stop-motion historical drama that depicts this story using the same ``wooden carving'' puppets used in Jingoro Hidashi's work. By depicting the video grammar and action expressions of the world-famous Japanimation using a technique called stop motion, which has rarely been attempted before, an entertainment work that no one has ever seen was born.
This work was originally conceived as a theatrical feature film or a streaming series. A pilot version was first produced in order to obtain funding both domestically and internationally, but its originality and overwhelming quality attracted leading creators such as director Mamoru Hosoda, director Shinji Higuchi, and Limestar Utamaru. It has already received rave reviews. When the pilot version was released on YouTube on March 8th (Wednesday), it became a hot topic on SNS, and the number of views exceeded 1 million in 22 days! As of 19:00 on April 10th (Monday), the number has increased to 1.77 million views, and it is attracting hot attention from overseas as well.
