“Drainage” Director Masaya Takahashi x Producer Kazuya Shiraishi Until the script that was rumored in the industry sees the light of day [Director's Interview Vol.320]
Frustration and fatigue due to lack of form
Shiraishi: How many years has it been since you directed a film?
Takahashi: It's probably been about 10 years since the last work.
Shiraishi: I believe that 10 years have passed since you started planning for ``Drought Water'', but it didn't come to fruition.Did you have other projects in progress during that time?
Takahashi: Of course there was. I wrote several scripts and sold them around, but even when they were good, they didn't work, and I was feeling frustrated and tired because I couldn't make them come true.

Shiraishi: Do you feel tired from movies?
Takahashi: That's right. Now that I have a family, I have to focus on things including finances. The scripts I wrote during that period were dry and not filled with life. There were many scripts that seemed to be desperately searching for something missing.
Shiraishi: After filming ``Drought Water,'' you made a recent work called `` Ai no Komura Gaeri '' (23), but is there anything different about it?
Takahashi: There wasn't that much time between the two films, so the circumstances in each one haven't changed much, but there are some people I met because I had a lot of people read the script for ``Housui'', and I'm very happy with those people. `` Ai no Komura Gaeri '' came up while we were talking about something else. There are some things that I have learned and learned over the past 10 years that have shaped me now.
