Influenced by the collection of Froebel-kan fairy tales

Q: I believe that your works are made based on your own creative and production desires, but you also produce videos commissioned by third parties, such as music videos or parts of Ari Aster's films. What are your thoughts on the production? Also, what was it like working with director Ari Aster?

Léon: The Professional: Of course I prefer creating my own works (lol). Working with director Ari Aster was a great learning experience. We like his works, so there was a lot to absorb. However, since it's not our own work, I'm not sure if we had fun in the process...well, it's more fun when we're creating our own work (lol). I had a lot of freedom in creating the music video, so it was a really fun job.

Q: Please tell us about your favorite movies and directors that have influenced you.

Léon: The Professional: It's a very long list (lol). My favorite director, who influenced this movie as well, is David Lynch. I also love the comedy movie `` Top Secret '' (1984). I also love Michel Gondry's " Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind " (2004), and it's a work that influenced both of us.

Cosignha: My favorite director is Ingmar Bergman. He is a director who makes movies that have such an impact that I can say that his movies changed my life.

Léon: The Professional: It's not a movie, but I really like the collection of children's stories published by Froebel-Kan in Japan. I read a lot when making this movie, and it was very influential to me.

Director: Cristobal Léon: The Professional & Joaquín Cosiña

A duo of visual artists who started their activities in 2007. Both The Graduate from the Catholic University of Chile. Léon: The Professional also studied at the Berlin University of the Arts and De Ateliers in Amsterdam. He co-founded the film production company Diluvio with filmmaker Niles Atallah. This experimental film presents a new interpretation of religious symbols and magical rituals that are deeply rooted in traditional Latin American culture. He combines a variety of techniques to create his films, including photography, drawing, sculpture, dance, and performance. Their stop-motion films are characterized by an unsophisticated cinematic language. The papier-mâché dolls and innocent paintings contrast strongly with the film's heavy themes of religion, sex, and death. They have won numerous awards, and their films are frequently featured in international film festivals around the world, including Rotterdam and Locarno. In addition to museums and biennales in Latin America, exhibitions have also been held at the Whitechapel Gallery in London, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Kunstwerke Center for Contemporary Art in Berlin, the Venice Biennale (2013), and Art Basel in Switzerland (2012). It is held at etc. His first feature film, The House of Wolves, was created as a nomadic work-in-process installation in various public places, including museums, cultural centers, and art galleries. It premiered at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival in 2018 and won the Caligari Film Award, and won the Jury Prize at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, among other awards. In 2021, it was selected as one of the top 10 animated films of all time by the website IGN. In the same year, he was selected as one of Variety's ``10 Animators to Watch.'' The short film ``Bones'', executive produced by Ari Aster, a film director who fell in love with ``The House of Wolves,'' won the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film at the 78th Venice International Film Festival. After that, it became a hot topic that he directed the music video for Thom Yorke's new band The Smile's single "Thin Thing" to be released in 2022. Furthermore, he was in charge of producing the animation parts and visual development for Ari Aster's latest film "Beau Is Afraid" to be released in 2023. He is currently filming his next film, Los Hiperbóreos, which combines live-action and animation.
