Two highly trained snipers (Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy) are stationed in separate watchtowers on either side of a vast canyon and given the top-secret mission of protecting the world from something lurking in the valley. The two deepen their bond in separate locations across the valley while keeping an eye out for a mysterious enemy they cannot see. Then, when a devastating threat to humanity is revealed, they fight together to protect the secrets of the canyon...

I was sure it would be an original piece.

Q: This is the first time you two have acted together in a film.

Taylor-Joy: I've been close with Miles for a long time, so I've always wanted to work with him. When I received and read the script for this film, I was delighted to hear that Miles had already been offered the role. I was hoping that I would be able to enjoy making a film with him, as if I was dancing with him, and it has come true.

Teller: We definitely danced together (laughs). I agree. We've known each other for a long time, so we knew from the beginning that this work would be important. When I received the offer, the outline was like this. Two main characters are sent on a mission and are completely isolated for a year, without any contact with the other or the outside world. Both are snipers, so Falling in Love through the scope (sniper rifle scope)... In other words, I was sure that it would be an original work that combined multiple genres.

Taylor-Joy: Yes, that's what's fascinating about this film is that it really can't be put into a specific genre. It feels like three movies in one.

Q: What specifically is original about your work?

Teller: This is the most unique piece we've ever done.

Taylor-Joy: First of all, the viewer of the film will have the pleasure of "getting to know" the two main characters. Then, as they watch, they will become fascinated with them, and when they are caught up in some kind of disaster, they will want to root for them. At that point, I was sure that everyone would empathize with the two of them fighting together.

Teller: A completely original idea, with the audience understanding the rules at an early stage. I thought it would be a work that would take you on a "movie journey". There is also a sudden turn of events in which the protagonists are thrown into Inferno from the time when they are likely to be happiest. Even if they survive that Inferno, they can't find any value in it. I still love the two characters who try to get out of their predicament, and that may have evoked an original feeling.

Q: So after reading the script you immediately wanted to be involved.

Taylor-Joy: I read it while I was filming Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga . Maybe that's why I was excited to be able to do some action in my next film! I was probably in the best physical shape of my life at the time (laughs). I was confident that I was fully prepared for the filming.

Teller: When I read the script, I felt like my heart was about to burst when I thought about the character Levi. Levi has no joy in living as a human being, and is someone who exists far away from the present. I wanted to bring back the "light" into his life. That's what gave me the push I needed to accept the offer.
