In recent years, the rise of new female directors has been remarkable, and new talent has also emerged. Scottish-born Charlotte Wells' debut feature film, Aftersun(22), received high acclaim around the world and won the British Newcomer Award at the 2023 British Academy Awards. It was also nominated for Best British Picture, Best Actor (Paul Mescal), and Best Casting at the same awards. The British film magazine Sight and Sound selected this film as the best film of 2022.

Old movie ``The 400 Blows''

May 28th is actor Jean-Pierre Léaud's birthday. His debut was François Truffaut's first feature, ``The 400 Blows'' (59), a representative film of the Nouvelle Vague that took place in the French film industry.In this film, Truffaut's alter ego, ``Antoine'', Jean-Pierre Léaud, who won the role of "Doinel" in an audition, continued to play the role of Antoine for 20 years as he grew up.
