Director Yokohama Satoko's latest film, "The Seaside Serendipity," is a film adaptation of the masterpiece manga by Miyoshi Gin. Director Yokohama is such a big fan that she even provided a comment on the comic's cover, but she chose not to faithfully reproduce the original work in her film adaptation. By superimposing her own image onto the essence of the manga, she has managed to strike an exquisite balance between the manga and the film. Her skill is nothing short of brilliant, resulting in a one-of-a-kind film unlike anything seen before.

Released on Friday, August 29th. Distributed by Tokyo Theatres and Yoake.

Old movie "Gaslight"

August 29th is Ingrid Bergman's birthday. Her first Academy Award for Best Actress was Gaslight(1944), a suspense film depicting a woman's mental breakdown as she is lied to by her husband. The film was a huge hit, and the form of psychological abuse depicted in the film eventually became known as "gaslighting."
