What emerges from the director's life

While being overwhelmed by the human drama woven by Mozart and Salieri, something welled up in my heart. It was about director Milos Forman, who passed away in 2018. The relationship between Mozart and Salieri in this film seemed to me to be a reflection of the "most complicated part" of Forman's life.

He has trained many students at Columbia University, including James Mangold ( Logan (2017), Ford v Ferrari (2019)). He was originally born in Czechoslovakia and is known for having survived a difficult childhood, with both of his parents dying in Nazi concentration camps.

After the war, Foreman devoted himself to filmmaking in his home country, which had become a socialist country, but with the future uncertain, he decided to emigrate to the United States (later obtaining citizenship) with the desire to "make films with more freedom." While his film "One Flew Over the One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest " is based on a novel and a stage play, it can also be interpreted as a work that loudly sings of Foreman's "longing for freedom" that lies in his heart.

"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" preview

A dozen years The Day After , Foreman returned to his native Czechoslovakia to film " Amadeus ," an American movie. He was constantly watched by the secret police during filming, and apparently faced many difficulties, but even so, he made a point of showing off his American citizenship by singing American anthems with the staff and extras on Independence Day. This film was shot under such complicated circumstances.
