A Scanner Darkly
review
Synopsis
In a society where the government is corrupt, a drug called Substance D is rampant. People's lives - basic human rights, human relationships - were completely trampled upon. Keanu Reeves plays an undercover narcotics investigator who plays the role of a junkie and infiltrates deep into the network in order to eradicate this drug, but eventually, as an investigator, he ends up monitoring himself as a junkie. And his personality slowly but surely disintegrates. The friends, played by Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson, Winona Ryder, and Rory Cochrane, also take on the tinge of madness due to their distrust of humanity. Countdown to personality collapse. There's someone watching over me.
