An extremely visual adaptation that is different from the original work.

Needless to say, a movie is something that tells a story through images. It is very different from what is conveyed through ``letters'' such as literary works. Many original works end up being mediocre or even worse because they are not able to switch this switch properly, but what happened with ``Trainspotting'' was the exact opposite phenomenon. In other words, this work is an extremely bold adaptation of the original novel by Irving Welsh, and has been adapted into a completely visual work.

In fact, this work was also made into a stage play before it was made into a movie. At this time, the content was said to be closer to the original. The creators of the film say, ``The stage version was a work that was suitable for the intimate space of a theater. However, we wanted to try something completely different from this, an expression unique to film.'' . Based on these honest thoughts, the production of the film began with a year and a half of work on the adaptation by the screenwriter.

Screenwriter John Hodge (`` The Beach ,'' `` Trance ''), who also holds the title of a doctor, is characterized by the fact that he cuts important scenes from the original work without any questions asked, and cuts out even his favorite scenes without hesitation. It's there. His writing style is so bold at times, for example, the famous phrase ``Choose your life!'' that appears sensationally at the beginning of the story appears somewhat modestly in the middle of the story. Behind the scenes, which could be called the face of the movie version with such a sense of speed, was his contribution in no small part.

In addition, in the original story, each chapter was woven into a monologue by each character, but in the movie version, it was changed to a ``monologue'' by the main character, Renton. The development of the climax is also very different. The creators must have been nervous about whether or not the original author, Welsh, would approve these adaptations.
