Relevance to modern hero stuff

The depiction of Hongo in "Shin Kamen Rider" "avoiding combat" may have been anti-heroic in a certain era, but the structure that questions the merits of resolving problems through the use of violence in the name of justice is also a prominent feature of recent hero stories.

For example, popular works from Weekly Shonen Jump such as " My Hero Academia ," " Jujutsu Kaisen, " and "Chainsaw Man ," which could be said to be at the forefront of hero stories and modern trends, all depict helping others as a job. In other words, the use of violence is interpreted as being approved under the pretext of it being "work."

In particular, " My Hero Academia " has detailed settings in this area, with the use of special abilities called "quirks" restricted by law, and those who fight evil using their quirks to the fullest are called "professional heroes," who require qualifications and are treated like civil servants. The protagonist studies at a training school to become a professional hero, learning how to use his quirk and how to fight enemies (villains) without causing damage to the city.

These commonalities can be seen as the influence of Anno's works, including the " Evangelion " series (in fact, Horikoshi Kohei, the author of " My Hero Academia," and Akutami Gege, the author of " Jujutsu Kaisen ," are self-proclaimed fans of Anno), but similar depictions can also be seen in comic book adaptations by Marvel and DC. In " Avengers: Age of Ultron " (2015), Iron Man creates a new conflict with his own invention, and his apprentice Spider-Man tries not to follow in his master's footsteps ( Spider-Man: Far from Home, 2019, etc.).

Also, the Batman in " The Batman " (22) is feared not as an emissary of justice, but as an outlaw driven by a desire for revenge. He is only recognized as a hero when he reveals himself, cooperates with the townspeople, and repels threats. Furthermore, the existence of films such as " The Boys " (2019-), which depict the dangers of heroes, acts as a deterrent to hero films that may condone violence. " Shin Kamen Rider" can be said to be a work that fits with this trend in the world.
