It's a middle story, but I'm very satisfied! Three reasons why "Claire's Camera" was a great movie

We are currently holding a rave review! Four new films by Hong Sang-soo, a talented Korean director, have been released in Japan since June of this year. This line-up can be called the ``Kim Min-hee starring series'' -- following `` The Day After '', `` Alone on the Beach at Night '', and `` Right Day, Wrong Day '', the last one is ``Kim Min-hee Starring Series'', which will be released on July 14th. Claire's Camera. Since it's a 69-minute novella, it may give the impression that it's a bonus, but fans of the director and those who liked the previous three films should definitely check it out. It's such a wonderful piece of work that I wouldn't be surprised if some people say this is their favorite.

First of all, it's a great reason, part 1. There are two beautiful heroines.

One of them, of course, is Kim Min-hee, who is currently Hong Sang-soo's partner both in public and private life (a.k.a. the controversial officially recognized adulterous couple). Another great actress, Isabelle Huppert, who is considered a French treasure, also stars.

Speaking of Huppert, he is a veteran with a career spanning more than 40 years, but he chooses to appear in ambitious works with a strong sense of auteurism, as if to support them, and is trusted by many filmmakers, and he frequently receives love calls from up-and-coming directors. He is known for his current popularity. She is a rare actress who, at the age of 65 (born in 1953), is in her golden age, having recently been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for Paul Verhoeven's `` Elle '' (2016). This is their second collaboration with Hong Sang-soo, as he starred in 2012's `` Three Annes .'' In other words, the director's two greatest muses, the strongest double heroine, are displayed in the same frame, making this a film filled with a luxurious sense of happiness.

Even more wonderful reason, part 2. The setting is Cannes, France.

This film was actually filmed in May 2016, with Isabelle Huppert filming the aforementioned "Elle" and Kim Min-hee filming Park Chan-wook's " The Handmaiden " at the 69th Cannes Film Festival. This was done to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the competition section (although none of the participating works won any awards). By the way, this is Hong Sang-soo's second time filming a movie in France, following `` Adventures in Paris '' (2008). ``Three Annes'' was set in the seaside town of Mohan, South Korea. Huppert has twice won the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival for ``Violette Nozières'' (1978, only shown as a special feature in Japan) and `` The Pianist '' (2001). In that sense, ``Claire's Camera'' was filmed at a sacred place connected to actress Huppert.

By the way, the shooting period for this film was apparently only a few days. So to speak, I proudly made a movie in my off time between my "work" of participating in film festivals, so how good is the cost performance! That's what I'm talking about (laughs). What an amazing guy Hong Sang Soo is. This is a professional independent film starring a big international star actress, and a vacation film from the south of France with a very relaxed atmosphere. He was able to quickly create a unique film in just a few spare moments, with a lightness that felt like magic. That is the third reason why ``Claire's Camera'' is so wonderful.
