“A Gleason” synopsis

NFL is the pinnacle of American football. Steve Gleason of the New Orleans Saints was a special hero. This was because he led the team to a dramatic victory in the first home The Game that the citizens of New Orleans had been waiting for since the disaster caused by Hurricane Katrina. Five years The Day After. Gleason, who had already finished his playing career, received an unbelievable diagnosis at the hospital. "You have ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)." Around the same time, I found out that my wife Michelle was pregnant. The first child I had. But will I ever be able to meet my child while I'm still alive? What can I leave behind for my unborn child? Gleason decided. I will continue to record a video diary every day to give to the children I have never met.

Who is the founder of the Ice Bucket Challenge?

From 2013 to 2014, a movement suddenly arose in which celebrities around the world bathed in buckets of ice water and posted pictures of themselves on social media. Former Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, who was nominated by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, has vivid memories of the video of him building a large-scale device and dousing himself with ice water over his head, which was broadcast on news all over the world. I think there are many people. The Ice Bucket Challenge was held to support research into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and was designed to raise awareness of this disease, which had not always been well-known until then. At the same time, it was an opportunity to collect a lot of donations.

By the way, who originally started this movement? In fact, the founder of this movement is Steve Gleason, the main character of the documentary film ``The Gleason.''

Born in 1977, Steve was a star football player at Washington State University, and after The Graduate, he played for the NFL's New Orleans Saints from 2000 to 2008. Despite his small build as an American football player, he is known for his bold attacks without fear of injury.

One play in particular made him a history-making player. In 2005, New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Tens of thousands of people were evacuated to the Louisiana Superdome, home of the Saints, and the dome itself was damaged, making it impossible for the Saints to practice or play games. Following renovation work, the Saints returned to the Superdome for the first time since the disaster on September 25th of the following year. As soon as the ball was kicked, Gleason jumped at the feet of the opposing punter and made a punt block. This stole the ball from the opposing team and the Saints scored a touchdown. Their opponent was the previously undefeated Falcons, and the stadium shook with loud cheers, making Gleason a symbol of New Orleans' renaissance.

After retiring, this American football player blessed with courage and physical strength was suddenly diagnosed with ALS in his 30s. In the United States, due to the medical system, the average life expectancy for people with ALS is said to be two to five years, and he was given the same diagnosis. Coincidentally, his wife is pregnant with their first child, so he makes a decision. As long as I can speak, I will record and record video letters to my unborn child as much as I can.
