A live-action version of the popular manga that became Sato's masterpiece. Sato, who was first spotted by director Keishi Otomo in ``Taiga Drama Ryomaden'' (2010), portrays the main character, the ronin Kenshin Himura, with such a level of reproduction that it seems as if he has stepped out of the original work.

The time is Meiji. Kenshin (Sato), a swordsman who was once feared as a ``legendary hitokiri'', has been living as a ronin since a certain time ago, vowing not to kill. One day, his destiny begins to change when he meets Kaoru Kamiya (Emi Takei), the strong-willed assistant instructor at the kendo dojo.

Directed by action director Kenji Tanigaki, known as Donnie Yen's right-hand man, this is a must-see for the high-speed, dance-like sword fights that set it apart from traditional historical dramas. Sato's ``gap acting'' is a highlight, as he perfectly embodies the two sides of the kind-hearted ``Kenshin'' and the insane ``Hitokiri Battosai.''

Sato embodies the cool protagonist whose hobby is observing people from a more detached perspective.
