Are past memories The Truth?



Q: In this film, a particular "day" is used symbolically, making us feel the importance of one day in life.


Potter: In 24 hours, there is day and night, light and darkness, wakefulness and sleep, everything is packed into it. There are stories that take place within 24 hours, such as James Joyce's novel " Ulysses ". I thought that our entire lives and the enjoyment we have of them could be expressed within the space of 24 hours.

Q: "What if?" Different lives are depicted in parallel. When I look back on my past, I feel like the basis for whether my memories are true is unclear. Watching this movie reminds me of that.


Potter: The brain waves you send when you eat an orange are exactly the same as when you imagine eating an orange. This shows that we have no way of measuring whether what our brains perceive as reality is actually real. And it also shows that our imaginations are very powerful.


When we look back on a memory, no one really knows if it is a real memory or a product of our imagination. What is The Truth, and what is imagined? We delved into the workings of the brain in this way.
