L/R15 “Nano Ai” “The cat ran away” Hideo Josada × Rikiya Imaizumi The fun of changing the script I wrote [Director's Interview Vol.195]
Cat performance was difficult
Q: The cat was just as amazing as the actors, and moved so well that you thought it was CG.
Imaizumi: It was extremely difficult.
Josada: At the time, I had a cat, so I was a bit naive and thought, ``You can do this much, right?'' I guess it can't be done after all.
Imaizumi: It might have been possible if it had been Josada-san's cat.
Josada: No, no, no (lol).
Imaizumi: We also have a dog, and even though we write in the script that our dogs move like this, in reality, each dog is different.
Josada: That's right. I think I made you feel a little bad (lol).

Imaizumi: I chose the cats this time from among several cats, and they were roughly divided into those that were quick and those that were not. I chose it. So I guess he still had good control. I even rewrote the script taking into account the movements a cat could do.
Also, the animal production staff was calling out to the cat throughout the filming, so there were times when I was like, ``Oh, we can't use the sound...'' (laughs) But in the end, I guess I was able to do more than I expected.
Josada: Our shoot was simple, so he turned out to be a really good girl.
Imaizumi: Mr. Josada did a really good job.
Josada: I was surprised that Mr. Imaizumi had so many miraculous cuts. I felt a little sorry when I heard that the cat had tormented him, but I realized that he had tried really hard.
Imaizumi: It can't be helped. It's a living thing. It was just a matter of how long I could persist. But he made a lot of good moves.
Josada: Dogs are amazing. I did it with a dog before.
Imaizumi: Do you listen to what I say?
Josada: If you play a corpse and say "Koron", you'll pretend to be dead (lol).
