Asian directors who influenced me

Q: Please tell us about the films that have influenced you and your favorite film directors.

Osaka: Looking back, I've been influenced by a lot of Asian directors. I like Taiwanese New Cinema directors Hou Hsiao-hsien and Edward Yang, Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai, and I admired Christopher Doyle's camerawork. Hou Hsiao-hsien and others used amateurs among their actors, and I think I was greatly influenced by that.

Q: Finally, please give a Arrival to the Japanese audience.

Osaka: It's a story set in a very faraway place, but I think there are many parts of the boys' pure behavior and the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic that you can really empathize with. I think you'll feel something, so I hope you'll watch it.
