There are a total of eight Harry Potter movie series (the original work has seven volumes, and the movie divides the seventh volume into two parts), but the third one, The Prisoner of Azkaban, ' has a special presence as a turning point in the series.

Following the departure of Chris Columbus, who directed the first two movies, `` The Philosopher's Stone '' and `` Chamber of Secrets, '' the director candidates for the third movie included Steven Spielberg, who was also a candidate for the first movie, and M. Shyamalan's name came up again, but Guillermo del Toro was also considered.

Del Toro, a standard-bearer of dark fantasy and creature movies, directed ``Harry Potter''...it's an irresistible combination for those who like both. However, at the time del Toro was working on `` Hellboy ,'' which was to be released in the same year as ``Prisoner of Azkaban,'' and because he was not interested in the warm and bright atmosphere of Columbus' previous two films, he decided to change the direction of Hogwarts Express. I ended up giving up my ticket. Very disappointing.

In the end, the person who was handed the ticket and stood on platform 9 and three-quarters at King's Cross Station was Alfonso Cuarón, a fellow Mexican manager and ally of del Toro. He completely renewed the style of the previous two films, and ``The Prisoner of Azkaban'', which combines a damp and cold darkness with a poisonous pop, became one of the masterpieces in the series. Del Toro regrets turning down the director because of his friend's brilliant work, but even now he says, ``It's the only film I regret turning down.'' As a fan, it's even more unfortunate that he regrets it so much...
