Hana Toyoshima and Itsuki Nagasawa, their balance

Q: Hana Toyoshima and Itsuki Nagasawa, who starred in W, were contrasting characters and existed in a very good balance. Please tell us about the process of casting.

Kanagawa: I had gotten an idea of the cast from Mr. Enyama, so while I was consulting with the casting staff, I was also researching. Around that time, I was watching `` Towako Mameda and the Three Ex-husbands '' (21 TV), and Hana Toyoshima, who played the role of the daughter, was really good. When I talked to Mr. Enyama, he said, ``I never imagined it, but it sounds really good,'' so I went to the agency and had him actually read the script, and then he decided to star in the role.

On the other hand, Mr. Nagasawa's name had been mentioned for a while, but he couldn't decide which role he would be asked to play. Since Toyoshima-san was selected, I thought it would be interesting if they were a pair. There was a contrast between the two of them, including their height, facial features, and atmosphere, and it seemed like they would have a good balance.

I was able to meet the two of them twice before filming, including a book reading and a fitting, so we rehearsed there. It was great that we were able to rehearse in a way that was similar to what would happen on set, such as not just reading the script at a desk, but also standing up and having people actually lie down on the desk and speak during the scene where they were sleeping in the club room. . Once they understood the character I was playing and what I wanted, and went on set, it was completely different. You can't rehearse like this at all in commercials, so it was a fun task for me.

Q: What specifically was staged during rehearsals?

Kanagawa: I asked them, ``What do you think of these lines and phrases?'' and read the book while listening to their opinions. They are more realistic than us, so their opinions are reflected in some of the lines. The word "emo" is exactly right. I think it turned out to be a very memorable line in the end.

Q: The casting of Mr. Kanta (Time Machine 3), who plays the role of the teacher, was unexpected, but I was hooked.

Kanagawa: I wanted someone with ties to Gunma to play the role of the teacher, so Seki-san was among the names of many people. Moreover, he was from Nakanojo-cho, the filming location. Even though his appearance time was short, Seki-san left an impression on me and I think it's great. Despite his extremely busy schedule, he took one day off his schedule to appear on the show. Mr. Seki, on the day of the shoot, you came directly to the location from your parents' house. Thanks to that, I was able to save money on hotel expenses (lol).
