What is the role of the storyboard?

Q: A storyboard is essential for commercial shooting, but did you make one for this shoot as well?

Omori: I drew it because I was nervous, but I ended up not showing it to anyone. Commercials involve a large number of people, so storyboards are drawn up to ensure that everyone is on the same page, but for movies, it's enough as long as the director and cameraman are known. Anyway, the most important thing is the play, so I looked at the play, the movement of people, and the location, and decided on the angle from there. Honestly, any angle is fine as long as it's a photographer I trust (lol). Rather than the angle, I think the overall distance between the actor and the camera is more important.

Kanagawa: I drew everything. During the location scouting, we had Mr. Kasamatsu cut the angles according to the storyboard, and we called in stand-in actors (Ultra Mansion Theater Company) to act in the play and actually filmed the scene. Afterwards, we edited the video storyboard, carefully examined the cuts, and proceeded with the actual filming based on that. It's exactly the same stance as CM. However, my storyboarding was so bad that Kasamatsu-san didn't seem to really understand it... (lol) On the other hand, my inability to decipher it turned out to be just the right balance, and the angle he gave me was really good. is.

Matsuoka: When I went to the movie set, I was surprised to find that there were no storyboards. The actors move first, The Day After think about how to shoot. It was the first time I realized, "That's the order!" Based on that experience, I intentionally did not give the storyboards to the staff and went into the filming saying, ``Let's think about it together on set.'' I talked with cameraman Yoshinori Okamura about the script and my life so far, such as ``Why this content?'' ``Why this kind of main character?'' After getting him to understand the film and what I wanted to convey. So, we started thinking together about what kind of images we should take.
