What is stop motion animation?

Stop-motion animation is also called "stop-motion" in Japan. This is a video technique in which the dolls are moved little by little, photos are taken, and the photos are stitched together to create an animation.

In ``Gon,'' 24 photos are used to create one second of footage. At this time, one photo is called "one frame."

Needless to say, the mainstream of Japanese animation today is hand-drawn and CG. However, stop motion, which uses real sets and puppets and creates movement by touching them directly with human hands, has a unique presence that comes from the accumulation of a huge amount of analog work.

In recent years, theater works such as ` `KUBO/The Secret of the Two Strings '' (16) and `` Isle of Dogs '' (18) and the Netflix work `` Rilakkuma and Kaoru-san '' (19) have been released, and if you are a hardcore stop-motion fan, There are more and more opportunities to see it. It can be said that it is a method that is gaining attention again precisely because digitalization is progressing in modern times.
