Director Alex Garland began his career as a novelist and screenwriter. Old movie "Roman Holiday"

December 9th is screenwriter Dalton Trumbo's birthday. Trumbo, who was forced out of Hollywood due to the Red Scare, wrote the original story for Roman Holiday(1953) under the name of Ian McClellan Hunter. The film won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, but the award was presented to Hunter. The Oscar statue was handed over to Trumbo in 1993, about 40 years later. 17 years have already passed since he left this world.
