J.J. Abrams paid homage to Spielberg with the movie ``SUPER8'' (11). ``Single 8'' (23), directed by Kazuya Konaka, is a film based on autobiographical episodes from his time in the film research club at Seikei High School. Both titles are taken from the name of the 8mm film. It is also set in the late 1970s and depicts young boys and girls who are passionate about making movies. What was it about filmmaking that attracted the high school students who served as the models for this film, "Single 8"?

Old movie "Full Metal Jacket"

35 years ago on March 19th, ``Full Metal Jacket'' was released in Japan. Although this is director Stanley Kubrick's work set during the Vietnam War, it clearly stands out from the ``Vietnam movies'' that were mass-produced in the 1980s. The drama is removed, and the production is like a cold-hearted observation of people locked up in a laboratory, with the writing style of a researcher reporting on the true nature of the military, the ultimate violent device.
