The essence of the Beatles sprinkled throughout the movie

When people are in front of the Beatles, they may have an involuntary feeling of honesty. That's what I thought when I saw ``Yesterday'' (19), which was based on a Beatles song. A fantasy romantic comedy depicting events that occur in a world where the Beatles have disappeared. After an accident, the main character, a struggling musician, realizes that the Beatles have disappeared from the world, and becomes popular by singing their songs. The setting is unique, but the story itself isn't terribly twisted. The songs featured are all classic Beatles songs. It could have been made into a maniac story by using more maniac songs.

However, director Danny Boyle, who is a professed Beatles fan, and screenwriter Richard Curtis must have made this movie with the feelings of honest fans. I want to share with the audience the joy I felt when I first heard their songs when I was young! That's why I decided to create a story that is easy to understand and straightforward, even if the setting is a little twisted. They may have thought that it would be closer to the (more idyllic) atmosphere of the 1960s when the Beatles were around.

Also, by choosing famous songs, he probably wanted to convey in an easy-to-understand way the feeling of living in a time when even such songs were unknown. The first song the main character, Jack, sings is "Yesterday." When I casually hummed it with my guitar in hand, everyone was shocked at how wonderful it was and asked, "When did you write it?" If this was a maniac Beatles song, the joke wouldn't work. They must have thought about a lot of things and chose mainly famous songs.

There's a scene in the middle of the story where they visit Liverpool, which is connected to the Beatles, and it's full of fun. I'm sure both Boyle and Curtis went on this journey together, returning to the innocent feelings they had when they first experienced the Beatles. Visit Liverpool's Beatles shrines, including Strawberry Fields and Eleanor Rigby's grave. This is something fans want to experience at least once.

Boyle usually made films with a twist, but this time he seems to have approached the world of the Beatles with an innocent attitude. The whole story is filled with honest fun. They bring a Beatles song into their film, get approval from the former members, and have it sung by an actor of their choice (Himesh Patel). Boyle and Curtis, who love music, must have found luxurious joy in it.
