A “zone” called Berlin where spies are mixed up.

The Berlin Wall is extremely symbolic for so-called "spy works." It was built in 1961. Starting with this, spy movies and TV dramas about espionage warfare in the underworld began to emerge all at once, and it became a major genre. In 1962, the Bond movie was born, The Day After has been a series of ` `Harry Palmer '' office worker secret agents wearing black-rimmed glasses, as well as ` `Napoleon Solo '' and `` Military Spy '', which are too numerous to mention. There is no.

On the other hand, if there is a beginning, there is also an end. ``Atomic Blonde'' depicts the ``end of the wall'' that occurs approximately 30 years later. This historic event marked the end of an era in espionage warfare.

In order to tell the story of the countdown to the fall of the wall, the creators of this work placed the utmost importance on depicting the cityscapes, atmosphere, and rich culture of East and West Berlin at the time. Director David Leitch says, ``I wanted to create a mystical atmosphere that colored important moments in history.''

For example, in the film, there is a scene in which Theron invades East Berlin, passes through Alexanderplatz, and confronts her enemy at a nearby movie theater. The movie playing here is Andrei Tarkovsky's `` Stalker '' (1979). In this science fiction movie, the characters search for a ``room where wishes come true'' in a restricted area called the ``Zone.'' The Berlin depicted in "Atomic Blonde" is also a place where spies sent from various countries wander in search of something. In a sense, ``Stalker'' can be said to be a film that symbolically projects their image.
