Travolta was selected before ``Saturday Night Fever''

As for the music, there are a lot of new songs for the movie that are different from the stage version. There are only a few songs from the stage version, such as `` Born to Hand Jive' ' in the dance battle scene, and many of the songs, especially those sung by stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, are new songs. These new songs, such as `` Duet of Love ,'' became popular on the hit charts, creating a synergistic effect that led to the movie becoming a hit.

Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees wrote and composed the song " Grease " that plays at the opening. This appointment followed the flow from `` Saturday Night Fever ''. There are also songs such as Olivia's `` I Love You, But I'm Sad, '' which was added in a hurry after the filming of the movie had finished, because they thought ``a ballad was needed.''

Speaking of connections from the stage version, John Travolta played the role of Danny, and he auditioned at a local production of ``Grease'' and got the role of Doody. This role has also appeared on the Broadway stage. This Dooty also appears in the movie as one of Danny's slightly timid companions. Travolta's role as Danny was decided before ``Saturday Night Fever '', and he began rehearsals for `` Grease '' four days after ``Saturday Night Fever '' finished filming. .

On the other hand, Carrie Fisher and others were initially considered for the role of Sandy, and the role of Sandy was difficult to come by until the end of the main cast. There is also a story that went too far when producer Robert Stigwood spotted Olivia Newton-John at the airport as she was leaving for a European tour and tried to woo her, while rehearsals had already begun. In the stage version, Sandy was of Polish descent, but in the film version, she was rewritten to be Australian to match Olivia.

When the movie was released in Japan, people were whispering, ``It would be weird to see Olivia Newton-John as a high school student!'' When filming began in 1977, Olivia was 29 years old. I was 30 years old when it was released, so I can certainly understand that feeling. Stockard Channing, who plays Rizzo, was 33 years old at the time of filming. Most of the main cast are in their late 20s and play high school students, and Travolta, at 23, was on the younger side.
