"Executive Decision" synopsis

Terrorists armed with the world's most lethal nerve agent, DZ-5, hijack a jumbo plane bound for Washington, DC. In order to avert this crisis, Army Intelligence Advisor Grant, along with a unit led by Lieutenant Colonel Travis, docked aboard a jumbo plane and infiltrated the plane. However, the transport plane is severely damaged, and the Crisis Management Committee assumes that all members of the special forces are dead. The only way to save the lives of the 40 million people on the ground is to blow up a jumbo plane with all 400 passengers in front of American airspace. The worst presidential decision in history is now being made! !

A hidden masterpiece that combines the genius of the script and originality.

The most important thing in an action movie is not the flashy explosions, car chases, or gunfights. It's a "script". ``Executive Decision'' (1996) is probably the easiest book to show examples of such obvious truths.

However, the evaluation of this work is unreasonably low compared to its content. When it was released in 1996, director Michael Bay's flashy action blockbuster ` `The Rock '' (1996) was a hot topic, and it felt like it was overshadowed by that.

The American movie review site Rotten Tomatoes has a 64% satisfaction rating, and critics have not given it very high marks. However, the site also lists the following comment as "critics' consensus": "This film incorporates many elements of the classic action thriller genre, and is certainly original without being confined to the genre. It's proof that it doesn't need rating points."

What is a "classic action thriller"? This is due to the suspense and psychological depiction that is expressed in the aforementioned ``screenplay''. And thanks to the combination of the script's genius and originality, ``Executive Decision'' remains interesting even now, a quarter of a century after its production.
