Contact between different species that runs through Spielberg's works

The film is set in England on the eve of World War I. A bay-colored foal is born on a beautiful farm in Devon, located in the southwest of the country. The foal has a diamond-shaped white spot on its forehead and a pattern on its feet that resembles white socks. A young man named Albert, the son of a tenant farmer, witnesses the foal's birth and seems to feel a fateful attraction to the foal, becoming deeply fascinated by it. When the foal grows up, it is separated from its mother and put up for auction in the village. The foal is purchased at auction by none other than Albert's father, Ted Narracott (Peter Mullan).

The beginning of the film delves into the story of a young man, Albert, and his family, set against the backdrop of a nostalgic rural village with beautiful greenery. The foal that Ted wins at auction is a thoroughbred, unsuited for farming. However, if they do not till the fields, they will not be able to pay rent and will be forced to move off the farm. Albert names the bay foal Joey, and as the momentum for war grows, Joey and Albert gradually form a unique bond. The process by which they come together is the greatest element that makes this story so lyrical.

The film "War Horse" consistently depicts the interspecies interaction between humans and horses, and director Spielberg is none other than a genius filmmaker who writes fantastical stories of humans and non-humans.

" Close Encounters of the Third Kind " (1977) and " ET " (1982) depicted friendly contact between humans and unknown life forms, and " Jurassic Park " (1993) featured revived dinosaurs in the lead roles. In other words, Morpurgo's " War Horse " is a piece of literature with the same qualities as Spielberg's works, and it was only natural that Spielberg was fascinated by the story of "War Horse."
