Her Majesty the Queen vs Her Majesty the King

"Vodka martini. Shake, not stir."

One of James Bond's most famous lines. This is a scene that shows his commitment to cocktails. Originally, a martini was made with gin as its base, and was stirred (slowly stirred) with the addition of vermouth, a wine flavored with herbs. 007 first changes the base to vodka and then shakes it (mixes it in a shaker). This commitment can be said to be on the sidelines for martinis.

On the other hand, Eggsy's order from "Kingsman: The Secret Service" is as follows.

"A martini. Gin, not vodka, of course. No vermouth, just stare at the unopened bottle sideways for 10 seconds, then take the steer."

This is nothing more than ``gin in a cocktail glass,'' but it is actually a ``martini'' that is typical of England. To begin with, the martini is a dry (dry: high alcohol content) cocktail, and the original recipe was 1 part gin to 2 parts vermouth, but the ratio was quickly reversed and became 2:1. The current popular ratio is 4:1. There's even an ``extra dry martini,'' which is just a drop of vermouth added to gin.

Former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who loves dry martinis, goes even further. It's a 1:0 martini that ``drinks gin while looking at the vermouth bottle.'' What's more, they have added a special rule: ``If you look at the bottle from the front, it will be too sweet, so look at it from the side.'' In Eggsy's case, it's a super extra super dry martini, leaving the barman to look at the bottle sideways.

As you can see from this particular order of martini, ``Kingsman: The Secret Service'' is a work full of strong feelings for 007. In the first place, it is clear from the title that ``Kingsman: The Secret Service'' is in contrast to ``On Her Majesty 's Secret Service,'' the original title of ``On Her Majesty's Secret Service.''
