Intense depiction created by the genius Cronenberg
When you think of David Cronenberg, movie fans may get the impression that he is now a Hall of Famer. A Canadian genius who has established a unique style with an uncompromising attitude and has earned the respect of filmmakers. He was once asked to chair the jury at the traditional Cannes Film Festival, so it's safe to call him a genius.
On the other hand, for long-time fans, Cronenberg's films have quite the impression of being ``perverted,'' to put it bluntly. He is a director who originally attracted attention as an up-and-coming horror director. His gory depictions, whether sadistic or masochistic, are relentless, and the scene where a human head explodes in Scanners (1981) is still horrifying even now.

Even in his masterpiece ` `The Fly '' (1986), in which he collaborated with a major Hollywood studio, the depiction of physical transformation was intense. Rather than saying it's scary when you feel it on your skin, you should say it's scary because you feel it in your internal organs and cells. Of course, this is only possible if there is a sharp psychological depiction that digs into not only the body but also the heart.
If I had to choose one example of Cronenberg's extreme perversion, it would be ``Naked Lunch'' (1991). After all, since it is an adaptation of William S. Burroughs' novel of the same name, which has been considered impossible to make into a movie, there is no way it could fit within the framework of an ordinary entertainment movie. Let's take a look back at how this mysterious work was born.
