Portrait of a Lady on Fire
review
Synopsis
Marianne, a painter, is asked by a noblewoman from Brittany to paint a portrait of her daughter Héloïse for an arranged marriage. However, Héloïse herself refused to marry. Marianne hides her identity and secretly completes the portrait at a mansion on an isolated island, but Héloïse, who learns The Truth, disapproves of the quality of the painting. When Marianne decides to repaint her painting, Héloïse unexpectedly offers to become her model. The two fall in love as they look at each other across the canvas, walk around the beautiful island together, and talk about music and literature. Five days after the promised date, the portrait was completed with one more stroke, but that meant goodbye.
