Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
review
Synopsis
Ebbing is a rural town in Missouri, USA. One day, a Arrival suddenly appears on three forgotten billboards lining a deserted road. --- Mildred Hayes (Frances McDormand), whose daughter was murdered seven months ago, is angry about the investigation not making any progress and spends a year with Red Welby (Caleb Landry Jones) of Ebbing Advertising. It was an advertisement that was published after a contract was signed. Willoughby (Woody Harrelson) is having dinner with his wife and two young daughters at home when he receives news from Officer Dixon (Sam Rockwell), who has spotted the sign.
Meanwhile, as if to add insult to injury, Mildred tells a TV news program that the police chief is responsible for letting crimes go unaddressed. Willoughby, who is proud of his efforts, visits Mildred alone and carefully explains the status of the investigation, but Mildred flatly rejects her request. Many of the townspeople admired Willoughby, who was full of humanity. Angered by the advertisement, they try to get Mildred to change her mind, but instead receive a brutal attack from her.
The entire town now views Mildred as an enemy, and she faces fierce opposition from her only son, Robbie (Lucas Hedges). Even though she wants to forget her sister's death, even for a moment, she is reminded of that fact every day by the billboards that line her way home from school. Furthermore, her ex-husband Charlie (John Hawkes), who has divorced her, also comes to warn her, saying, ``They're more desperate to destroy you than to investigate.'' Mildred is upset when she hears from Charlie, who broke up with him after a dispute, that his daughter came crying to him a week before the incident, wanting to live with her father. She deeply regrets the last words she said to her daughter, who was in the midst of a rebellious period.
Mildred was supposed to corner the police and make progress in the investigation, but she ends up alone and helpless. However, a shocking incident occurs that changes not only Mildred's life but also the lives of everyone involved in this advertising scandal.
