The motif of the telephone - a tool for connection

Nowadays, every day is noisy. Not only do we receive phone calls and emails from others, but when we open the Internet, we are flooded with voices (words). I wonder how long it will be until we reach an age where people can connect with each other so easily. Public telephones are becoming less common, and fewer people now have a landline telephone at home. Thanks to advances in technology, it is now commonplace for each person to own a telephone. Nowadays, individuals can connect with each other anytime and from anywhere.

Joseph, a lonely old man who appears in this work, ``Red Love,'' collects the voices that overflow in his daily life by eavesdropping. This "voice" is proof that people are interconnected. We don't know how deep or how tenuous that "connection" is. Joseph confirms this kind of "proof of connection" through the criminal act of eavesdropping.

Valentine, on the other hand, is also having a tumultuous time. The phone rings frequently from his girlfriend who lives far away, and the person on the other end says a number of things that make him suspect that his girlfriend is cheating on him. How much of the love between these two can be confirmed through a phone conversation like this? The ``proof of connection'' here takes on the ugly form of suspicions about his lover Valentine. It is no wonder that she feels distrustful of such a lover. Does “love” really exist here?

The film begins with the dial tone of a telephone, followed by the dial tone, and the intermingling of people's voices. A telephone is a tool for connecting. At this very moment, people all over the world are using it to connect with each other. Due to the trauma he sustained in his youth, Joseph has become distrustful of humanity and has cut off ties with others. However, it can be said that the connection is indirectly gained through eavesdropping. He meets Valentine through his dog, but if she doesn't know about Joseph's despicable act of eavesdropping, there's no way they'll ever become deeply involved. The two people connect directly with each other through the telephone, which is a tool that is supposed to connect people.
