A masterpiece that brought a famous actor an Oscar for Best Actor.

The history of film is full of relationships between ``animals and humans'' from the first page.

The first work shown by the Lumière brothers, ` `La Sortie de l'usine Lumière à Lyon' ' (The Exit of the Factory), features dogs and horses, along with a large number of people, impressively reflected in the film. Another work by the same brothers in 1900, ` `La petite fille et son chat '' (The Girl and the Cat), depicts the young girl and her beloved cat playing together in a narrow composition. It's really dynamically carved.

If so, does the masterpiece " Harry and Tonto " (1974), The Day After was created more than 70 years later, carry some of the genes of the same genre?

The film tells the story of an elderly man, Harry, and his cat, Tonto, who are forced to move out of their apartment and travel across the United States in search of a new home. Tonto doesn't appear that often. But it's always there. In this way, it sometimes crows at the right time, and other times it swoops out of its way at the most important moment, inviting the protagonist to take a ``meaningful detour.''

What is especially noteworthy is that this film successfully overturns the long-held jinx that ``no great actor can compete with an animal.'' Art Carney, the famous actor who played the lead role, captivated many audiences with this role, and as a result, won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1975.

Looking at the candidates at the time - Al Pacino for `` The Godfather Part II '' (1974), Albert Finney for `` Murder on the Orient Express '' (1974), Dustin Hoffman for `` Lenny Bruce '' (1974), and `` Chinatown' '. ” (74), including Jack Nicholson. The fact that we won the award by beating them is nothing short of a big win.
