First collaboration with Goblin
In terms of music, we also tried a different approach. Ennio Morricone is the master composer who has mainly composed Argento's works in the past. However, these two never got along well. It is said that Argento sometimes ordered songs to be rewritten, infuriating the mogul. There is no doubt that Dario Argento's musical taste is not a flowing orchestral sound, but a heavy progressive rock. I almost asked Deep Purple to do the music for ``Four Flies.''
Giorgio Gaslini was in charge of composing ``Deep Red,'' but as expected, Argento ended up saying, ``I want more rock music.'' He pestered soundtrack producer Carlo Bixio to bring in big-name bands like Pink Floyd and Emerson, Lake & Palmer .

Bixio, confused, introduces Argento to an up-and-coming band called Cherry Five. He was also the producer of Cherry Five. Let me quote from an interview with member Claudio Simonetti .
“The producer said to me, ``Why don't you listen to the bands you're producing before you bring in the big bands?'' Argento arrived at the studio and said, ``They're really good. Let's do it.'' I was supposed to arrange a song by Giorgio Gaslini, but he got into trouble with Argento and left the movie.With him gone, I needed a main theme for the movie. ” (quoted from an interview with Claudio Simonetti )
The Cherry Five, who were called in to perform Gaslini's songs, were also assigned to write the original score. The famous theme song (`` Suspiria 2 Theme Red Abyss '') was created by chance. As a result, the movie became a huge hit, and the soundtrack album sold like hotcakes. The album stayed at number one on the Italian charts for 15 consecutive weeks and sold over 1 million copies.
After this, Cherry Five changed their band name to Goblin . This is the beginning of the collaboration between Goblin and Argento that has continued since then.
