Hitchcock's 50th thriller

I'm sorry if this is a personal topic, but for me, Alfred Hitchcock's first Contact movie is not `` Rebecca '' (40) or `` North by Northwest '' (59), but rather `` It was not ` `Psycho '' (60), but ``Torn Curtain'' (66). I remember when I was in middle school, my father rented this movie and we watched it together.

Hitchcock released 53 feature films during his lifetime. Among them, ``Torn Curtain'', the 50th film, is by no means recognized as a masterpiece. In fact, this work, released in the later years of Hitchcock's life, was so poorly received that there were rumors that the master was at his limits. The New York Times called it a ``pathetically nondescript spy movie, for the obvious reason that the script is a collection of the banalities that Mr. Hitchcock most shunned.'' Rotten Tomatoes film critics gave the film a score of 65%, which is significantly lower than 96% for Psycho and 97% for North by Northwest .

"Torn Curtain" preview

However, for me at least, this is a film that is filled with the essence of Hitchcock. Michael Armstrong (Paul Newman), a nuclear physicist who infiltrates East Germany during the Cold War as a spy, and his fiancée Sarah (Julie Andrews). Will they be able to escape safely? Through this movie, I learned what suspense is and what it takes to create a production that stirs the emotions of the audience. I was in awe of the great god of suspense and began to follow his works.

There are works that are extremely important and important to me, even if they are considered bad works in the world. For me, ``Torn Curtain'' is definitely one of those books.
