Demi's musical sense and performance sense

I wrote that this movie has a loyal audience, but I thought about why it's so addictive. Perhaps the showmanship of the director, who is good at capturing the performers' performances in the film, is reflected in the film, making us want to watch it again and again.

When you think of the best performance film he made, the first thing that comes to mind is `` Stop Making Sense '' (1984). This film is a film of the concerts of the New York band Talking Heads, in which David Byrne was a member, at their peak, but this film also resurfaced along with Byrne's live film American Utopia (2020), and is being revived in theaters. achieved success. Although nearly 40 years have passed since its first release, its universal power can be felt. The music itself is, of course, wonderful, but Demi's greatness as a director lies in how she manages to present the energetic performance as a theatrical film (rather than just a live video).

The soundtrack for ``Married to the Mob'' is also fun, and its rhythm adds momentum to the story. The song that plays in the title background is popular singer Rosemary Clooney's 1954 hit song " Mambo Italiano ." It's a graphic, pop-inspired opening with images of train tracks captured from various angles (designed by Pablo Ferro, a pioneer in title design, who also worked on works such as Stop Making Sense and Philly ). Also in charge of "Philadelphia " 93). After this title background, the first murder occurs on a commuter train, so it's a thrilling beginning that could be considered a foreshadowing.

Also featured is ` `Bizarre Love Triangle,' ' by British band New Order, for which Demi has made a music video, and this song is probably a song that expresses the love triangle between Angela, Mike, and Tony. Or? (If you add Connie to that, it becomes a square love.) Chris Isaak's `` Suspicious of Love '' is also included in the soundtrack, but Isaac also appears as an actor, dressing up as a clown and showing a gunfight in the middle (Isaac also appeared in `` The Silence of the Lambs' '). (He also appeared in the role of Swat).

Other songs include " Goodbye Horses " by Q Lazarus, who appeared in Demi's " Philadelphia " (1993), " Too Far Gone" by The Feelies, who also appeared in "Something Wild " (1986), " Liar Liar " by Deborah Harry, " Devil Does Your Dog Bite? " by Tom Tom Club, a band created by members of Talking Heads, and Talking Heads album producer Brian Eno. ` `Don't Miss Your Water' ' and other songs are favorites of connoisseurs. Demi's playfulness is evident in the scene where Mike pretends to be a member of an a cappella group singing on the street while tracking down a gang.

All music by David Byrne. He also performed the opening song for Demi's comedy masterpiece `` Something Wild ,'' which Married to the Mob, Mafia.'' At this time, the duet with the queen of salsa, Celia Cruz, was the most exciting result. There is no vocal song in ``Married to the Mob'', only instrumental music.

According to Demi's interview with Positif, she considered using Ennio Married to the Mob. "Morricone is a composer who is always trying new things. I thought it would be okay to bring a Macaroni Western feel to this film, so I seriously considered asking him to do it. David told me that he wanted to do music himself, so I chose him."

``Married to the Mob'' begins with a mafia murder scene, introduces a love triangle (or is it a square?), and finally reaches its climax with the characters intertwined in a luxury hotel in Miami. There's something about that exciting feeling that makes you feel like you're watching a live performance, and you'll probably want to watch this movie over and over again. Personally, I'm always excited to see a salsa band called Pe De Boi (who Demi discovered) appear. A Latin-style song is played during the scene where the two main characters go on their first date, and the song's pleasant rhythm gets carried away. Parallel to this scene, a gang shootout begins in another location. The real thrill of an entertainment movie is the combination of the intense rhythm of salsa and the sound of guns.
