eternal daughter

In Jane Birkin's book `` Jane B. by Agnes V. '', Jane Birkin said that she would like to make a family film someday. The “family movie” is “ Kung Fu Master!” , directed by Agnes Varda and the brainchild of Jane Birkin. ” (1988), and reached its final form in ``Jane by Charlotte.'' It is inevitable that Varda's name will appear in this work. Charlotte's second daughter Joe appears like a guardian angel. A young girl who looks a lot like Charlotte. Just as Varda once made herself a subject in order to allay Jane's anxieties, Charlotte casts her daughter Jo in this film to allay her own anxieties.

Jane seems to be concerned about Joe and advises him to keep a record of his current state in the film. Before everything changes. Jane's advice, which comes through Varda's words, is a true inheritor of the Birkin family's lineage, which has lived in front of the camera. Jane's mother, Judy Campbell, was also a successful screen actor and, like Jane and Charlotte, a celebrity who was terrified of singing on stage.

This film, which begins in Japan, has the feel of a road movie. As if to match the life path of Jane, a foreigner who moved from England to France. Jane has a work called ``The Prodigal Daughter'' (1981). By appearing in this film by Jacques Doillon, Jane realizes that she has a tendency to not stay in one place.

Jane was passionate about social work and humanitarian aid. Some even lined up on the streets holding placards to demonstrate. At the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake, he boarded a plane full of empty seats bound for Japan and headed to charity work earlier than anyone else, even as the dangers of radioactivity were being reported. Jane turns her anxiety into a weapon. Jane embodies the freedom to shake things up. With its emphasis on movement, the film honors Jane's philosophy of always being in motion for her own emotions.

Jane Birkin passes away on July 16, 2023. I watched this film both before and after Jane's death. I can't help but feel sad that this work, which originally felt like the end of Jane's life, turned out to be the final one. Jane also talks about her own death in the film. I'll never forget the look on Charlotte's face at that moment, as if she didn't know what to do.

``Jane by Charlotte'' expresses the idea of growing old with your mother, but still not being able to stay with her forever. Just as Jane was a mother and an "eternal daughter," Charlotte will likely inherit the honor of being a mother and an "eternal daughter." Jane for showing me what's really cool. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for the style and attitude that a woman named Jane Birkin lived. Merci, Jane!
