What we can see from the suffering and rebirth of ' You Were Never Really Here' director Lynne Ramsey
2018.06.14
Things that emerge when you overlap with Ramsey's life
We arrived on the island of Santorini, Greece. It was probably for a change of pace, and it was also because he wanted to clear his mind.
The place she stayed was in an area where electricity and internet conditions were not sufficient. Although it was inconvenient, it didn't bother me at all. There, bright sunlight was shining down and beautiful nature was spreading out. That was enough. It was here that she began taking photographs for the first time in a long time. As he gradually recovered, he began writing a script for a movie.
That is not all. During her days of rebirth on Santorini, she meets a new partner and is given a new lease on life. And then childbirth. This work, ``You Were Never Really Here,'' was developed together with her in the process of crawling out of chaos and shining once again.

In the movie, the main character Joe, who has suffered various traumas in the past, struggles with the memories that have pierced his heart, but he still risks his life as a professional and a human being to retrieve the captive girl.
Movies and life are two different things. Even though I know this, am I the only one who feels that this change in her fate has some kind of influence on ``You Were Never Really Here''?
For example, if you compare the main character, Jo, with Ramsay, you will be able to clearly see how she has fought to the extreme to maintain her beliefs. The intensity of the violence may speak to the ferocity of the battle and the depth of the scars.
On the other hand, if we compare Ramsay with the girl, we can clearly see how she falls into the lowest point of her life and is eventually rescued into a place where the sunlight shines.

Just as Joe and the girl appear to be one and the same in the movie, Lynne Ramsay's feelings must have been in sync with both Joe and the girl to some degree. In particular, the ``single line'' delivered at the end of the movie shines differently when interpreted in Ramsey's context. This must be Ramsey's true feelings, which he can only now say after going through so many twists and turns in his life.
Even if you have already seen this work, I would like you to relive her life once again. I'm sure you can clearly see that while this film depicts chaos and conflict, it is also a film filled with the brilliance of life.
