What is the comic "Scott Pilgrim"?

Scott Pilgrim is a six-volume indie graphic novel series written by Canadian cartoonist Bryan Lee O'Malley and published between August 2004 and July 2010.

O'Malley, who started working as a manga artist around 2001, made her feature-length debut in 2003 with a work titled " Lost at Sea ." This coming-of-age story about an 18-year-old Canadian girl who believes her soul has been stolen by a cat and who travels from California to her home in Vancouver with her high school classmates after a certain incident was a very introspective work, so it was not well received among O'Malley's friends. So for her next work, she decided to draw a manga that would please her friends, and began working on " Scott Pilgrim " (by the way, she did not have an assistant except for the production of the final volume, and apparently drew it alone).

The core of " Scott Pilgrim " is strongly influenced by O'Malley's life at the time. Living in Toronto, having a gay roommate, being a member of a band, and starting a relationship with an American girl are all things that actually happened in O'Malley's real life. Moreover, he depicted the streets and facilities of the neighborhood where he lived exactly as they were in the manga, and even featured characters modeled after his family and friends. "Scott Pilgrim " is also semi-autobiographical. The idea of "fighting seven evil ex-lovers to be with his girlfriend" was also inspired by his experience of finding out that his girlfriend had dated three men named Matthew.

Having written this much, it may seem like an extremely personal work, but perhaps reflecting reflections on the previous film, which was too introspective, this latest work makes use of a variety of approaches to create a thoroughly entertaining piece.
