The worst tragedy in the history of Norway

July 22, 2011. On this day, news of the terrorist attack that occurred in Norway spread around the world. The summary of the incident is as follows. At 3:17 p.m., a bomb exploded in front of a government building in Oslo, killing eight people. Shortly after 5 p.m., another random shooting incident occurred on Utoya Island, about 40 kilometers from Oslo. Sixty-nine young members of the Norwegian Labor Party's youth wing attending a summer camp were murdered. All of these incidents were carried out by a single person with far-right ideology, and this incident, which claimed the lives of a total of 77 people, is said to be the worst crime committed by a single perpetrator in history.

The movie ``Utøya: July 22'' focuses on this tragedy and depicts what happened on that day and in that place from the perspective of one girl.

If you recall, examples of films based on shocking terrorist events that actually occurred include `` United 93 '' (2006), a film by director Paul Greengrass based on original research about the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001; One that comes to mind is `` World Trade Center, '' which was released by director Oliver Stone in the same year. In recent years, films such as `` Patriot Day '' (16), which depicts the terrorist bombings at the Boston Marathon, are still fresh in our minds.

The memories of these incidents are still fresh, and the content is extremely sensitive for the families of the victims and those who have suffered external and psychological injuries as a result of the incidents, so it is important to consider how to approach the subject matter and how to make it into a movie. There is a strong tendency for the artist's personality to emerge strongly when deciding what to draw. The aforementioned ``United 93'' and ``World Trade Center'' are different subjects, so it's natural, but there are big differences between the artists in terms of the distance to the subject matter, the depiction style, and the way the work is put together. It was impressive that there was a difference.
