Now an Academy Award-winning director! What is Peter Farrelly's origin seen in "There's Something About Mary"?
A bizarre story full of love enemies and radical gags that Cameron questioned.
Now, the drama jumps to 13 years later. Ted, who can't forget Mary, takes his bad friend Dom's advice to heart and hires Healy, a private detective, to investigate Mary's current situation. However, as Healy follows and observes her, who is single, good at work, and even more beautiful, he falls in love with her. So he lies to Ted and reports that he's a "fat old lady with a baby now." Still unable to give up, Ted actually meets Mary and sees through Healy's lie. However, Healy is not the only love rival...
One of the villains, Healy, is an important presence that stirs up the story. He will be played by Matt Dillon, who gained popularity in the 1980s as a handsome young star in films such as `` The Outsider '' (1983). He fell in love with this world of comedy, and gave up his advantage of being a good-looking man to provide a full-fledged comedic performance. The thinly shaped mustache was also his own idea.

One of my favorite movies that is often talked about in the scene where Healy and Mary go on a date is Harold and Maud (1971). This story, in which a 19-year-old boy obsessed with death develops a relationship with an old woman who is nearing death, eventually forms a romance with a sad ending, and although it has an eccentric twist, it is deeply moving. Like Mary, this is Peter Farrelly's favorite work.
I would be remiss not to mention another scene that has become a hot topic as one of the most vulgar scenes in the film. This is the scene where Ted is about to go on a date with Mary for the first time in a while, and at the urging of Dom, Ted masturbates before going on a date. By an unfortunate coincidence, the released semen catches the eye of Mary, who mistakes it for hair gel and applies it to her hair. The sight of her going on a date with her bangs still standing up caused laughter from the audience.
During the filming of this scene, Cameron reportedly objected, saying, ``There's no way a girl wouldn't notice something wrong with her hair on a date.'' However, the Farrelly brothers emphasized laughter, and only used this hairstyle for the dinner scene at the beginning of the date. As a result, it becomes the funniest scene.
