The final form of “melodrama”

Padmaavat is the third film by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranveer Singh who plays Alauddin, and Deepika Padukone who plays Padmavati.

The first is Ram and Leela (2013), an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet . The second is Bajirao Mastani (2015), based on historical fact and depicting the tragic love stories of two women who married the same king. Both films are written as melodramas.

"Ram and Leela" is a must-see. It depicts lovers torn apart by two rival families. "Bajirao Mastani" depicts a man and woman who cannot have a happy relationship due to differences in faith, status, and circumstances in the turbulent times of war. Deepika and Ranveer have played melodramas in the past two films: two people who are attracted to each other but cannot be together.

However, the two have been dating for a long time in real life and are now a newlywed couple who finally tied the knot at the end of last year.

The story of this film, in which "the man seeks out the beautiful woman he has heard about but is never able to even catch a glimpse of her. The man pursues her madly, while the woman coldly runs away," creates an ultimate melodrama for fans from a meta perspective that takes reality into account, in which the characters play a man and woman who are so in love that they actually get married, but who are never able to meet in the end.
